Not trying to continually disagree with you. Just confused. We have called them three times, and they swear they have no intention of stopping support or MAINTENANCE. I had forgotten about it until today when I paid over a thousand dollars for my support contract. We almost never use support other than to get the updates. So, if it were EOL, at some point there would be no support of updates/upgrades. I just upgraded to v9.1. If they were going to belly up, would they take my $1,000+? And, if they were going to support it but not do updates, would they charge the same annual fee? Again, if there were no upgrades, I wouldn't pay for support I don't use.

Just so confused. Do you have written confirmation that they are jumping in the toaster? Just asking.

We have clients that use Medware, they continue to use it for the clearing house as it is currently setup. For a large practice with a large database it is painfully slow, but they haven't finalized on their replacement yet.

I don't think you continually disagree. I am fairly sure that Medware's days are numbered -- but so what? My office has been using Medware since its DOS days -- and it is basically the same program now.

People haven't changed, but the way we think about their diseases, and especially the way we charge them for treating those diseases has changed a lot. So I suppose we need to replace Medware with something more modern, that can handle all the complicated billing schemes.

As I said at the beginning of this discussion, I was all ready to move to the AC integrated PM -- when all of a sudden, the management changed. I only said that I was happy enough with Medware to stick with it until the new management showed its true colors.

Trust, but verify.

Medware will be around for several years yet, just like Windows XP -- sort of a Carboniferous cockroach. Even if they stop maintaining, we will be able to use it for a while. (Cockroaches have been around for ~300 million years, despite being obsolete.)

Personally, I am just very thankful that AC and Medware allow me to run a small private office with some semblance of "modern" IT connectivity. I hope they remain true to the original intent.
