Some HP customers are noticing a significant slow down on their machines.

The software, which was first identified on November 15 of this year, is called “HP Touchpoint Analytics Service” and appears to replace the self-managed HP Touchpoint Manager solution. According to the official productivity description, it features “the tools you need to ensure all your managed devices’ security — and brings you greater peace of mind”. The problem is, it’s installing itself without permission and is wreaking havoc on customers’ systems.

And the consumers are noticing:

On 11/18/2017 Hp Touchpoint Analytics Client was installed on my computer without my concent, I’m assuming it was installed in the background as an update to Hp support or framework.

However it happened I don’t appreciate it’s sneaky take over of my computer’s system resources.

From yesterday to today it’s been making my computer work so hard I can hear it like cranking away and the light in the back of my computer is flashing rapidly in-tune with the cranking.

The good news is that it is fairly easy to uninstall.

I have known other softwares to take telemetry. Microsoft is one. Blizzard is another. And in neither case do they slow the machine down. I find HP's inability to take telemetry without adverse affect is puzzling.

I agree. Makes me wonder if this is a blind opt-in for mining that one of their minions chose to include.

Stranger things have happened. Point is, an easy fix is someone is affected.

I can think of no good that you will directly receive for running their telemetry client.

The links in the original article will walk you through uninstalling it.

So true. I never liked when companies did that, but I haven't had any issues with telemetry taking so I always leave it be. Until now, that is. At least it's easy to get rid of...

90% of the issue is knowing it, and knowing how to remove it easily.

It is the insidious ones, or the ones that function like malware that are particularly irritating.
