Important Update for NewCrop E-Prescribing Users: Mandatory Upgrade to V12 Required by End of June
We’re reaching out to inform you of a critical update that requires your immediate attention. Due to the discontinuation of the Medication Database (MedsDB) by Wolters Kluwer, all users of NewCrop’s e-prescribing service must upgrade to Version 12 (V12) by the end of June this year. This change is essential for maintaining access to accurate and comprehensive medication data, as the MedsDB has been an integral part of our system and many others since their inception.
Why the Upgrade is Necessary?
- Transition to FirstDataBank: We are moving to FirstDataBank (FDB), a leading alternative that offers a robust and comprehensive medication database because our existing provider, WoltersKluwer is no longer supporting Lexi-Data, our existing medication database. This upgrade ensures that you have access to the latest medication information, and is required by law if prescribing electronically.
- Automated Mapping with a Catch: While we have automated the majority of the medication mapping process to FDB, you may encounter medications that map to more than one option. For instance, the medication Percocet could map to both “Percocet” and “Endocet” in FDB. It’s crucial that you select the correct option to ensure the accuracy of your prescriptions.
