Resources to Preserve the Freedom of Private Practices

By Kelsey Oliveira

In order to keep up with hospitals and health care systems, independent practices need to dedicate at least 10 percent of their time to administration. In an effort to lessen this burden, the AMA established the Private Practice Physicians Section (PPPS). This new section “seeks to preserve the freedom, independence and integrity of private practice so that physicians who choose to practice in that setting can provide compassionate personal medical care for their patients.” The ultimate goal of the section is to support physician satisfaction, practice sustainability, and remove obstacles that affect patient care.
